Microphone Volume is very low on Windows PC? This is the solution

Here's how to solve the very low microphone volume issue on PC. If you have increased the full volume to 100 percent but the sound produced by the mic on the PC is still small even in some applications the input is barely visible, here is a tutorial for very low microphone volume on a Windows PC.

At first, I thought the microphone I bought was not of good quality, but after I tried using a much more expensive mic the sound was still small. When doing live on Youtube the sound of the mic issued is very small, not balanced with the sound of the system/game being played.

In my experience, the difference is very clear. If usually the microphone volume can only be maximized at 10%, now my mic volume can go up to 40-50% on the volume indicator on the PC.

Finally, I found this simple or easy way to follow, especially for those of us - of us who use Windows 10 or Windows 11. I don't know if this setting works for Windows 7 or 8, but if you are still using it you can try it anyway, ready or stay the same setting.

Before proceeding to the tutorial, make sure that the microphone volume on your PC/laptop is at 100% maximum, I'm afraid we just forgot to turn up the volume. But if it's at 100% and the sound is still small, please follow the tutorial or how to increase the microphone volume on the following PC.

  1. Please click the > Start/Windows button
  2. Then type "Sound Settings" in the search field. Please click the Sound Settings menu that appears. Alternatively, you can also right-click on the volume icon (bottom-right of the screen) then select menu > Open Sound settings.Microphone Volume is very low on Windows PC? This is the solution
  3. In the Sound settings, make sure the input device is correct, adjust to the type or brand of microphone that is being used.
  4. If the input device is correct, please click on the text > Device properties.
  5. On the device properties page, click on the text > Additional device properties. The Advanced Microphone Properties window will open.Microphone Volume is very low on Windows PC? This is the solution
  6. On the Microphone Properties page, please open the menu > Levels. In the Levels setting you will see the usual microphone volume settings and Microphone Boost settings.
  7. In the Microphone Boost settings, please increase/slide to the right to increase the boost to the microphone volume. I suggest trying to align right (full) to +30dB. If it's too much, then just lower it down until it fits as needed.
  8. If the boost settings are complete, please click the >Apply/OK button.Microphone Volume is very low on Windows PC? This is the solution
  9. Done. Please try the microphone in a recording application such as Adobe Audition, Audacity, etc. Or you can just look at the sound section, there you can see the volume indicator goes up drastically.

In my experience, the difference is very clear. If usually the microphone volume can only be maximized at 10%, now my mic volume can go up to 40-50% on the volume indicator on the PC.

Microphone Boost menu not coming out?

There are several problems that are often encountered with the above method, one of which is the Microphone Boost volume setting. In my experience, the microphone boost does not come out if the mic that we are using is not plugged into the mic port on the back of the PC (the red main mic port). Or you can try some of the solutions below.

  • In the Microphone properties section, please open the Advanced section and then uncheck all the boxes on the "Exclusive mode" setting. Then click the OK button. Then check the Levels section again.
  • If there is, try replacing it with another mic first. Not all types of microphones can get this volume boost setting.
  • If you use a mixer or other audio accessories, try checking the cable or connection used, if there is, please use the USB 3.0 port (blue color) so that the power output is stable.
  • Check the audio drivers on the PC. Make sure the audio driver installed is using the latest version. If necessary, please uninstall the driver and then reinstall the audio driver.
  • If it still doesn't appear, you can use additional applications specifically to increase the volume, such as the Equalizer APO. Currently, I have not made a tutorial, if there is I will immediately update it on this website. For the time being, please look at other websites or see tutorials on YouTube.

Hopefully, this article on how to increase the volume of a very small microphone on a PC is useful. If you have any questions, please save them in the comments column below as usual. Keep being a wise user!
